WATCHING PEOPLE DROWN's contribution to our split with our dear friends in OLD SKIN is dedicated to the protection of our loving friends and family who keep us alive aswell as the torment awaiting the united states government
Drummer Evan and vocalist Marena met in middle school, eventually going through many hardships together, such as abuse, intense addictions, and legal trouble.
WPD was founded through healing from trauma and love for chosen family in the spring of 2021, when Marena and Evan met guitarist Bailey and bassist Eddy through Audrey, our assistant manager and best friend.
Instantly creating a strong bond between the group, WPD quickly released a demo and started playing shows within the local hardcore scene in Fort Collins, CO.
Hardcore is usually very angry music, and WPD is no exception. However, we don't believe anger is best without meaning. As a transgender woman, our vocalist Marena has a lot to be angry about.
We use our art as an outlet of rage and representation for queer people against the violent oppression they experience, which in this country is only getting worse at an extremely concerning degree.
We believe in militant queer liberation,
with love and rage.
